Giving Tuesday:
Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to those less fortunate. At Camp Kesem, it serves as one of our biggest fundraising days of the year. Our goal was to raise $5,000 in 24 hours in order to pay for a week of camp for 10 different campers dealing with a parent's cancer.
The Campaign:
The plan was simple: leverage our vast counselor roster, their own social media accounts and Kesem's social media presence to reach as many people as possible. We used real camper quotes to show how much Kesem truly means to the kids, with the goal of motivating and inspiring people to donate. Above are some examples that I created.
Result:
Simply by spreading the word, making a neat little video (below), and asking on a day of giving, the result was truly beyond anything we could have dreamed. In less than 24 hours, we raised over $13,000! That pays for a week of Camp Kesem for 26 different campers. To this day it gives me the chills.
